"those things you tell yourself, they'll kill you in time..."- Elliott Smith

So, yeah- I went and saw this movie called Broken Flowers last night.  It's a new Bill Murray movie, and it's an indie- kinda like Lost in Translation.  This movie is a lot funnier than LiT, but it's just as strange (the ending will kill you).  It's about this guy who's always been a bachelor and hooked up with a lot of ladies, but never wants to settle down.  One day he gets a mysterious note- from what is assumed to be a former flame-telling him he has a 19 year old son.  So he, with some help of a quirky novelist neighbor, sets out to find some of his past loves and to find his son.  It's a really great film.  There are a lot of quite scenes, though, where nothing really happens.  I don't know- it's just got a really sweet vibe.  Check it out.

Oh, if you haven't, run out and buy the new Switchfoot CD- Nothing is Sound.  It's great! jon Foreman channels a little bit a' Bono in some of the tracks- but still manages to keep his own great sound.  It's not as out there with the religious speak as The Beautiful Letdown was- which is equally good and bad, but you can still sense their faith- especially on "The Shadow Proves The Sunshine."

I just finished season 1 of LOST.  that show is pretty amazing.  It's really gripping.  I mean, at first I thought, "oh a bunch of people stranded on an X-Files-type island.  Not that interesting."  But I watched the whole season in 7 nights.  The acting is great, the stories are more than interesting, and there is a bunch of great action (and even a few scares, too).  Anyway, if you have the chance, if you didn't follow season 1, rent it and get up to date.  New season starts Sept. 21.

Speaking of new seasons- Nip/Tuck starts Sept. 20 (and season 2 is out on DVD now).  The Office also starts Tuesday- really get in on that one- Steve Carrell is absolutely hilarious!

Alright, I'm out to get ready for work.  Blog safely and live long in prosper...
